Are hair transplants safe in Turkey?

The hair transplant industry exponentially swelled to become the greatest industry in the world second to none. With global eyes scrutinizing the industry, it is natural for its reputation to be somewhat blemished and the negative side exaggerated. If it weren’t hair transplants we are talking about, perhaps, the effects of libel and slander won’t be deep-rooted in the minds of intrigued patients. However, because the results of a hair transplant are permanent and long-lasting, patients are wary, if they ever approach the concept, it’d be motivated by dubious curiosity.

A great majority of international patients had their scalps successfully blanketed with luscious hair. While that is one side of the story, although often buried beneath the scandals and the debates; there is another side, the part of the industry that is always exposed. On the other hand, a marginal number of patients came in with the hopes of pulling back their receding hairline, only to be met with the awful fate of a botched job.

Setting the bias aside, it is time to discuss the truth. Because like a double-edged sword, similar to any medical industry, the Turkish hair transplant industry has its pros and has its cons. So let’s dig right in.

Are hair transplants safe in Turkey?

There is no clear cut answer for this question. It is a matter of vigilance and diligence. The ministry of health in Turkey runs spontaneous inspections rather frequently. However, it does not necessarily mean, that between the inspections some illicit hair transplant center would emerge. Like any other country, it’s entirely the patient’s responsibility to look for certified hair transplant centers in the region.

What to look for in hair transplant centers for a safe experience

1- reviews and ratings

In addition to above-board operations, patients should look at the reviews and ratings of the hair transplant hospital in interest. Feedback from past patients discloses the true nature of work ethics practiced in the said center.

2- Before and after pictures

To not be disappointed in the future, skim through before and after pictures to evaluate the skill of the surgeons. If your standards are realistic, determine for your self whether the aesthetics of the after pictures are what you’re looking for. If the before and after pictures are not displayed or watermarked, then you need to reconsider your choices. Watermarking before and after pictures is a colossal signal that portrays the hospital’s pride in their results and their persistent need to preserve their authenticity and protect their excellence.
